To-Stop-Doing List

The best way to stop spending time on unnecessary distractions

is to make a "to-stop-doing list".

This is better than a to-do-list, because it helps you see what's

bringing you down. Think about the tasks that drain your energy

without contributing to anything worthwhile.

To be able to devote most of your time to projects and activities you enjoy,

you'll need to be forceful about dropping a lot of other activities.

Once we turn our creative minds on, it can be difficult to turn them off.

By "turn them off", I mean, set other projects aside for a time so that we can focus on our priorities.

There are a million different ways we could spend our time. A couple of weeks ago, I came up with an idea that I thought was quite good. I started to do research and recognized that there was a hole and a need in the market for this very idea.

For two to three blissful days, I rolled up my sleeves and imagined making this project happen.

On the fourth day, I had to step back and remind myself that my time and energy is precious. While an enjoyable project, it was not my passion.

I need constant reminders to spend my limited time on things that I am passionate about: writing meaningful content, deaf college education and supporting dreamers to reach their goals.

When you start to feel overwhelmed with your projects. Sit down and complete a to-stop-doing list. Take note of what projects escaped your list and act on them immediately.

If you died tomorrow, would you be glad you spent your time on this project?
