Riding a boat beneath the Niagara Falls! [TORONTO Days 2+3]

Yesterday our Rovia members checked into their hotel rooms and then we hosted a welcome party in a beautiful reception room in The Westin Harbour Castle (our hotel). Everyone was so social that people were best friends from day one. I've never worked with travel groups who are so close knit - I guess the difference is that you are likely to see these friends again on future Rovia trips so everyone likes to invest in making friendships. The welcome receptions are always so much fun - especially as I have my goal each trip to memorize everyone's names.

This trip had 200+ people so I think I only memorized the names of about 40% of the group, but again, it makes such a difference when I try because then I feel like I know these members so much better by the time they leave. I hope that soon I'll be able to memorize 100% of most groups!

Today was a LONG, but good, day. We loaded the buses at 8:45 and drove the nearly 2 hours to the Niagara Falls. We took boats to the base of the falls - the Canadian view of the falls is DEFINITELY better than the New York view because you have a 360 degree view.

The wind would take the water and drench us - our ponchos were a bit of a joke. :) While everyone was staring at the falls behind me, I saw several rainbows in the water below us on the other side of the boat. Absolutely beautiful!

Then we went to Table Rock at the top of the falls to watch the water rush by.

Afterwards we had lunch at the Sheraton above the falls that gave the group an INCREDIBLE view. We drove to the whirlpool below the falls and some members took the cable car (~$12 USD) or helicopters ($80 USD) to get better views. Everyone said it was worth the extra expense - I'm hoping I can go on a helicopter on one of my future trips to Toronto! (I'm coming back in October and November.)
Then we went to some vineyards and the group tasted wine for a few minutes before we drove to Niagara-on-the-Lake, a tiny town near the falls that was preserved from the late 1700s! We didn't have much time there, but most of the group wanted to stay longer - there were so many quaint shops and fun foods. I was busy covering bases at the bus, but I hope to be able to go into town on my next trip in October!
By the time we made it back to the hotel, everyone was asleep on the bus (including myself) and I was READY to be back. :) I ordered room service and just read old mysteries - the perfect end to a busy day!
Happy travels!
Destiny :)
