My name is Destiny.

I'm a nomad through and through. I love living in the branches of the Church.

THE START OF MY JOURNEY

In 2005, my cousin offered me my first chance to live abroad. I moved to Colonia Juarez, Mexico and learned how to say, "Where is the bathroom?" in Spanish and how to get in debt while traveling. I didn't realize it at the time, but that was the start of my journey to find cheap ways to live abroad.

TWO LDS MISSIONS

My next chance to live abroad was when I received my LDS mission call to serve in Budapest, Hungary. After an incredible 6 month mission, I started having serious health problems and moved back home. I was determined to never stop traveling if I ever got better. While at home, I served as an online indexing support missionary for 9 months.

POOR COLLEGE STUDENT

Through a series of miracles, I was able to go on Semester at Sea: a study abroad program on a floating college campus. I traveled to 14 countries and met deaf in nearly every one of them. Inspired me to start The Deaf Dream. Realized that traveling was more than a hobby, it would be my life.

COLLEGE GRADUATE IN DEBT

Had the opportunity to be an au pair in Germany and Turkey. Hopped around inbetween to Vietnam, Qatar, and several other countries. Realized that anyone who says travel is expensive never traveled on a college graduate's budget. [Approxiamately $0.00 USD.] Arrived home and was asked "So are you ready to settle down yet?" Nope. Not really. Now I want to teach everyone I can about how to travel with no money. :)
