7 Apps I Use for Responsible Traveling (+1 Website)

There are a few apps I use CONSTANTLY while on the road. On my flight today I had the thought that you guys might want to try them too!
[Don't worry, I'm not getting paid or anything to advertise for these apps. These are just my favorites that always seem to make the cut when I'm clearing space on my phone. :) ]
1. TrafficCam
This is my number one app for one big reason: it helps fight against the sex trafficking epidemic. Every time I check into a hotel I take photos and upload them to this app which sends the info to police databases that use them to cross reference hotel rooms with photos online of sex trafficking victims. It takes two seconds for me but hotel guests have uploaded over 1,500,00 photos in the last month alone and are making a huge difference!
2. Charity Miles
This isn't a travel app per se, but every time I go on a hike or walk I turn on Charity Miles and pick my favorite non-profit from the list.
This app allows me to walk for a cause every time I get out the door! I've clocked over 570 miles in the last three years of hiking and running and I can't wait to get to 1,000!
3. Google Translate
Before you skip over this one, know that I'm not talking about typing in a word and learning how to spell it in Spanish. I'm talking about Google Translate's newest feature where you use your camera on your phone to look at a sign or a menu or a book and read in your own language. [See below.]

4. Skyscanner
Myself (and most addicted travelers I know) have this app on our phones to look up the best deals daily. Search USA to "Everywhere" in the "Cheapest Month" and you'll find deals that will make you ready to hop a flight tomorrow. 5. myNoise
Whether at home or on the road, I use myNoise to block out any distracting noises in the background. I think my brain is trained now to write whenever it hears the fuzzy white noise come on. :) There's also other "white noise" such as jungle sounds, ocean, creaking boat, etc.
6. Acorns
This is not a travel app, but I did have to put this in the list. Acorns is a way for Millennials like me to invest. Every time I use my card, the total is rounded up to the nearest dollar and that amount is invested for me. Because I use a card a ton while on the road for work, I'm up to $403 invested just by purchasing things. Not bad for not having to think about it! :)
7. AirBnB
My final app recommendation is, of course, AirBnB. I know most of us know what AirBnB is but it's awesome to be able to look up costs of staying/living around the world. My friend Kara, a travel nurse, uses AirBnB to negotiate 3-month deals for living in cities around the USA. Nearly every country (except Tibet, sadly) seems to offer AirBnB options which are often LOADS better than hostel or motel choices. I recommend using AirBnB for your first couple of nights in a country and then branch out to find local, unique housing options.

This is not an app, but rather, a website that I use CONSTANTLY. This is how I connect with branch presidents/bishops to be my emergency safety people abroad and how I attend church in a different location nearly every week when I'm on the road for Rovia.
